Saturday night, The Broken Hearts Club Tour was brought to Trees Dallas by Gnash along with opening acts Carlie Hanson and Guardin.

Our review format: The format is a straight forward expression of about 5 separate thoughts. The best comparison would be some text messages about a concert or album from a friend to you. Some messages may be only one or two words, some may be run-on sentences, and some may be paragraphs. We do promise not to ramble on and drift off topic like a text from your favorite grandparent.

Carlie Hanson
RIYL: Troye Sivan, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift 1989
Pseudo Genre: Unapologetically poppy pop

1. Taylor Swift probably likes her because Carlie is *kind of* like Taylor Swift, if Taylor Swift was a real person....and way cooler. And with a better voice. A MUCH better voice.
2. She has stated in interviews that she doesn’t like her music to be put into a box- and that’s a good thing because it would never fit into just one. While there are obvious elements of pop and rock, others regularly slide in and out...rap, spoken word, even blues. The girl is diverse.
3. A rising star at 18, you’d expect Carlie to come off as asinine or immature, but she is quite the opposite. With lyrics like “But you're acting like you're somebody else, losing yourself” on the song Hazel, dedicated to a friend, it’s clear that There’s a lot more to Carlie than her age. Thank God.
4. Her voice (as mentioned above) is spectacular. A lot of singers sound great on their tracks, but live it’s obvious that the vocal producer worked some serious overtime. Not with Carlie. Her voice is the real deal
5. Her songs are musically and vocally very well written. There’s definitely a psychology to it, but she’s a natural talent so she probably isn’t even fully aware of her song writing ability yet...we can’t wait to see what happens when she is!

Here is a couple of videos we shot and some more pictures of Carlie.

Gnash
RIYL: Pop Rap, Early The Weeknd, wearing your emotions on your sleeve
Pseudo Genre: Emo Pop-Rap

1. Gnash's primary audience is tweens and teens, and he had them enraptured from the moment he hit the stage.
2. Gnash wants to be sure that everyone at his shows has a positive experience, and he bring as positive and infectious attitude.
3. He has said "In Gnash, the g is silent, but my feelings aren't." Throughout the show he expressed his earnest appreciation for the audience and the chance to perform in Dallas.
4. Alternating between dance beats, lo-fi pop, and hip-hop, Gnash displayed his talents as a producer, songwriter and performer.
5. The sky is the limit for Gnash, and we expect to see him turning some heads and drawing crowds on the festival circuit this Summer.
